New to Derma-Rolling? Learn all about Micro-Needling Dermaroller

Innovative and exciting beauty treatments are always in the news, and dermarolling is no exception! The procedure uses a skin needling device that remoulds the skin by creating thousands of microscopic channels, increasing the formation of tissue, and releasing growth factors that promote healing and the deposition of normal collagen. New to Dermarolling? Take a look at some frequently asked questions.

What is a dermaroller?

A dermaroller contains hundreds of tiny needles which punch tiny holes into the skin causing a microscopic injury. This handheld device can be used with a selection of needle lengths varying from 0.2mm to 2.0mm, used according to the skin condition that needs treating. The dermaroller needs to be carefully washed in warm, soapy water after each use, before being soaked in disinfecting alcohol for 20 minutes. Allow to air dry before returning it to the cleaned container.

What skin conditions can it be used for?

Use the dermaroller for treating fine or deep wrinkles, loose skin, sun damaged and aging skin, uneven pigmentation, scars, and stretchmarks. It can be used on the face, neck, and other parts of the body, and is suitable for all skin types including Asian and Oriental skin. There aren’t any risks of permanent skin discolouration, and it doesn’t induce sensitivity to UV light.

How often can you use it?

This all depends on the length of the needle used – 0.2mm needles can be used every second day, 0.5mm needles once or twice a week, 1mm every two weeks, 1.5mm every three to four weeks, and 2.0mm only every five weeks. You need to remember that it’s really important to buy the right serum with the correct active ingredients to get the maximum benefit from micro-needling without causing a reaction.

What are results like?

Micro-needling dermarollerDermaneedling has been proven to be long term safe and effective. Skin can look decades younger as the new collagen and elastin that forms can postpone or even replace a facelift. Stretchmarks become less indented and narrower and original skin colour may be partially restored. If your skin is too thin for laser treatment, it offers you an alternative. Dermarolling also temporarily enables absorption of skin care products into the skin – yet another advantage.

Is it worth it?

At home dermarolling is certainly a thrifty way to get great results with regular maintenance. It’s also an ideal method for filling in fine lines and wrinkles, and diminishing the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eye area. However you may be more confident in having the treatment performed by a professional dermatologist at a cosmetic clinic.

Dermaroller procedures in Glasgow are carried out by a fully qualified medical doctor using the very best brands on the market. This cost-effective treatment is safe with little or no recovery time, and isn’t painful as a numbing agent will be applied before treatment begins. This revolutionary treatment increases the production of collagen creating smoother, brighter, and healthier looking skin.

Thanks Dr. Q!

Dr. Q has done my lip fillers and wrinkle reduction. Lots of people tell me I’m looking really well but my look is natural so they don’t always guess I’ve had any work done and that’s exactly what I wanted. Dr. Q listens well and therefore provides the look you want. Nice relaxed atmosphere in the clinic. Treatments are painless (I use anaesthetic cream for lip fillers). The clinic is clean and bright. Love my little visits!
